Hour of Code Week

This week we're going to be on this site called code.org which teaches kids how to code. It seems fun but I'm really tired. The weekend went by way too quickly..

25 years hence

Today we were shown a video made by Apple about 25 years ago in which they were predicting how technology would advance. We were asked to come up with our own ideas as to what the future of technology holds. I believe that advances in the medical field will have greatly changed. I think that research in that department and proper technology equipped with it would really bring some great things. Such as voice recognition of an AI doctor. I think it'd be cool if it analyzed the patient's body and looks for symptoms and tells the patient what to do accordingly. For example, maybe it'd notice the patient has diabetes and his/her blood sugar is low and would inject sugar into his/her body automatically. It sounds really far fetched but I think it's possible.

today is Monday and I'm tireddddd. Luckily we don't have to do anything in P.E bc we're in the first-aid unit and we don't have to change and yayyyy. We didn't really do much for Thanksgiving. Our relatives live too far away. My mom has three sisters. One's family lives in LA (she passed away), one lives in New Jersey and one lives in Florida. On my dad's side, I only have one uncle. He lives in India along with his wife and one kid, Jane. His other kid, Jason, is in Virginia rn training to become an ER physician like my dad. My brother is in Texas bc he's in the army and he's training there. I feel kinda lonely at home so I bring my friends home a lot nowadays but they were all busy on thanksgiving. I'm really tired and I can't focus ughh. I need like a year-long nap.

monday

Today is Monday and I'm v tired. I just started watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix and my weekend was subject to binge watching. I did homework too and such but I really recommend watching OITNB. Other than that, I'm working on my Hangman project today hoping on make some progress. But I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get v far today. I'm pretty tired and Mondays are always horrible. ugh

New projecttt

Today is mondayyy and we are starting a new project. We have to create a Hangman program to run through. I already know this is gonna be hard but I'm down to work on it until it works. We do have a bunch of time though so I'm not too worried about this project (yet)

Minimum Day

Yesterday we had no school bc veteran's day. I have a different attitude towards veterans and the U.S. military in general bc my brother is in the army. I am glad and thankful for all the veterans and military personnel who put their lives on the line to keep this country safe.

I got upset at my mom for getting mad at me for having bad grades and now I'm blogging to make up for the days I didn't blog. It's Saturday and I'm really tired and bored. I'll probably stay home and play guitar until i fall asleep

Some thoughts

Today is American Day and I'm wearing red suspenders on a white v-neck and blue shoes. Hooray for 'Murica. My brother is in the army and I'm very proud of him and I'm pretty darn proud to be an American.

Mid-term results

Today we went over most of the questions in mid-term we took last week. I didn't do as well as i had thought i did. I think that if I had gone over some of the curriculum that I wasn't familiar with I would've done better on the test. Maybe next time we should review our curriculum before a test similar to this.

I couldn't trick or treat on halloween bc my dad dragged me and the fam along w/ him to carmel valley for a business trip. I did get candy, though. I got sick too and I have a headache and typing this is killing me ughh. I guess I'll have to focus on computer science .----------.

John Oliver Stuffs`

Today we a kind of an unplugged day because there's barely anybody here because they're "sick" conveniently on the day of the Giants Parade. We had fun too, however. Henry showed us a couple John Oliver vids and as funny as they were, he brought up some pretty good points. The first video was about net neutrality. He talked about cable companies and how they are attempting to make us pay for faster internet. I am solely against it. But I guess so are a lot of people. The other video was about native advertising. I personally dont see that big of an issue with this but yeah

Tuesday

Today was a half unplugged day and we learned about good computer programming practices. These include: giving meaningful names, minimizing use of broadcasting, and using code blocks to repeat any processes that appear a bit too complicated to read. I also learned that i didn't do too well on my rock paper scissors project. I'm planning on working on it tonight. I hope my grade goes up after i blog some more and redo the project and with the test coming up, my grade is sure to have an increase :)

So i went to homecoming on saturday and it was pretty fun! I had a great time with my date and my friends. Last year i didn't go but this year was totally worth it. Definitely going to winter formal also. It's a boat o.o

I haven't blogged in forever because stupid school schedule never gives me enough time to write one of these out meaningfully. We went over what the answers/demographics of the survey we took yesterday. Not much is changing as a result of that except more time for programming on block days. Yay! :D

NSA n stuff

Today we watched two TED interviews about last year's incident with Edward Snowden's leaking of the NSA's documents. I feel that it was good that Snowden released this information, however he may have gone about it the wrong way. He could've told an officer of higher rank about this information and maybe something could have been done. But at the end of the day, he did help out America one way or another

Today i wrote a block to draw flowers. This was difficult at first but once I got the gist of it, it got easier. I really think that once i write more blocks and such i will get better and my goal is by the end of this class is to make a sprite of nic cage dance across the screen and then yell "not the bees" and collapse.

Soooo we learned about binary numbers and how they work. It was a bit weird-looking at first but i think i got the hang of it. Oh yeah I also have to come up with my hello world speech by next week .___________.

Algorithms and such

Sooo today we learned about algorithms and the 'double-edged sword" type of role they play. We talked about how computers, when given commands, they will do what you tell. Therefore, we must be precise and careful when writing programs for computers to execute. I found this pretty interesting and pretty scary at the same time and algorithms will definitely change the world as we know it

First Thoughts about CS

I am currently in my first period of the day: computer science. It seems cool and stuff and I think this year is gonna suck less because of this class. I'm glad to be in this class with some other sophomores that I know. I took Engineering Technology last year and it was fun and I hope that this year will be the same c:
